Current expense of education per average daily attendance (ADA)

This shows the current expense of education per average daily attendance (ADA) as calculated by the state. This amount includes the cost of employee salaries and benefits, books and supplies and replacement of school equipment. The current expense of education does not include non-instructional expenses such as construction and acquisition of facilities, benefits for retired employees and food services. Average daily attendance (ADA) is defined as the total days of student attendance divided by the total days of instruction.

The resulting amount is determined by dividing the district's total current expense of education by its average daily attendance. For a given year, this number represents the average dollar amount spent by each district on student instruction.
